Managing Funeral Director Sam Steiner has lived in Junction City for twenty years. Sam and his wife Ranell have four adult children and live in Junction City. Ranell is an art teacher at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School in Manhattan, Kansas.
Sam is a funeral director because he truly enjoys helping families create meaningful funeral services for their loved ones. He enjoys living and working in Junction City and considers it to be a beautifully diverse community with rich culture.
He is the past president of the Kansas Funeral Directors Association and an active member at the Episcopal Church of the Covenant and the Washburn Alumni Association. Sam is also the current President of the Junction City Rotary Club and a board member for the Geary Community Healthcare Foundation.
Pre-Plan Funeral Director Barb Wunder joined the Junction City community in 1992, and our funeral home in 1999 in an Administrative Assistant role. Over the years she has held many different roles at our funeral home, and in 2022 transitioned to a full-time focus on helping families make advance funeral and cremation arrangements.
Barb was married to Mick Wunder for nearly 23 years before his passing in June 2022. She has two daughters, Kara and Kaytlyn, and three grandsons, Brekken, Kayson and Miqaii.
Barb appreciates the diversity of our community and the small-town feeling of knowing so many. When not at work, she is busy with the Junction City Noon Kiwanis, enjoying a Kansas City Chiefs or Kansas State Wildcats game and spending time with her many friends and children and grandchildren.
Assistant Funeral Director Jonathon S. Slaten joined our funeral home in 2021. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in December of 2020, and chose to stay in Junction City afterwards because of the welcoming people in our community, and his desire to provide honorable services to our veteran families. He finds it very rewarding to help families in our community during their time of need.
When not at work, Jonathan keeps busy with his studies, as he is also a full-time accounting student at Purdue University.
Administrative Coordinator Leigh Ann Stamper joined our funeral home in 2021. Having been on the “arrangement side of the table” many times herself, she considers it an act of love and honor to serve other families who are in that position. She truly has a heart of service.
Leigh Ann has been married to James for 13 years and has an adult son, Joshua, and a daughter Anna, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 24. Leigh Ann has rich ties to our area, having graduated from Kansas State University with a Master’s degree, and loves the diversity and culture of Junction City. When not at work, Leigh Ann loves spending time with her family and friends, and reading actual books (not e-books)!
