Yasuko "Mickey" Roberts, 85, of Butler, Mo., formerly of Junction City, died Sept. 27, 2013 at MedicalLodges Nursing Home in Butler. Yasuko was born Jan. 31, 1928 in Oita City, Japan to Kojiro and Haruo Uchida. She and her husband moved to Junction City 1962, as he was in the U.S. Army. Yasuko was a homemaker and mother, and enjoyed sewing
, crocheting, making quilts, and going to garage sales.
Yasuko married Everett Roberts in May of 1956 in in Fukuoka, Japan. He preceded her in death June 3, 2000.
Survivors include: 2 sons, Benjamin Roberts and his wife Theresa, Allen, Tx., and David Roberts and his wife Wendy, Butler, Mo.; a daughter, Marsha Rich, Junction City; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister, all in Japan.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel in Junction City. Burial will be at a later date at Ft. Riley Cemetery. The family will greet friends Thurs., 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 612 W. Fort Scott, Butler, Mo., 64730.
