Xi Van Tran, 96, of Junction City, died Sept. 22, 2016 at his home in Junction City. He was born Jan. 1, 1920 in Saigon, Vietnam. He moved with his family to Junction City from Vietnam in 1986. He was a member of the Chua Tu Bi, Vietnam Buddist Temple in Kansas City, Missouri.
Xi married Trinh T. Tran in 1947 in Saigon, South Vietnam. She died February 13, 2010.
Survivors include: a son, Michael Tran and his wife Hong, Salina; 3 daughters, Phan Johanson, Colorado Springs, Colo., Lan Ryan and her husband Bill, and Rot Butts and her husband Daniel, all of Junction City; 12 grandchildren, Lan Goodrum, Rebecca Coleman and her husband Jamire, Linda Butts, Tina Butts, Michael Tran, Jr., Brian Tran, Barbara Armstead and her husband David, Janette Yadar and her husband Payoj, Seria Tieman, Victor Johanson, Michael Johanson, Huynh Van Teo and his wife Nga Huynh; and 9 grandchildren, Leilana Coleman, Nailah Coleman, Tommy Huynh, Michael Tran, Richard Goodrum, Jr., Garrick Goodrum, David Armstead, Ryan Yadar, and Kitana Johanson. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Johanson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel, with Thich Hoa Dao presiding. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, prior to the service.
