Wladyslaw Mitura, 93, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at his home. A private graveside service will be held next week at the St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, MI. No services will be held in Junction City, KS.
Mr. Mitura was born January 28, 1922, in Leszkowice, Poland the son of Jacob and Anna Mitura. Mr. Mitura moved to Junction City, KS in 2014 to live with his son Edward.
Mr. Mitura was taken into forced labor in Germany three days after he turned eighteen. He remained in captivity for the next five years until the end of the war. He immigrated with his wife and son in 1950 to Detroit, MI. He got a job with Ford Motor Company and worked there until his retirement. He lived in the same house for fifty nine years. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Detroit.
He married Izabela Dudek in 1943 while they were both prisoners. She preceded him in death in 1989.
Survivors include one son Edward Mitura, his wife Hwa J. (Kay) of Junction City, KS, one daughter, Barbara Mitura of Detroit, MI. Other survivors include two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and one grandchild.
The Jarzembowski Funeral Home in Detroit will handle the Michigan arrangements.
