Homecoming services for Wilma R. Kind, 101, of Junction City, KS will be held at 10a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Lyona Methodist Church with Pastor Carol Moore Ramey officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyona Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 2p.m. to 4p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street, Junction City, KS 66441. Mrs. Kind met her saviour after passing away on June 18, 2012 at Valley View Senior Life Center. Memorial contributions may be given to the Lyona Methodist Church.
Mrs. Kind was born June 10, 1911, Green, KS to Frank H. and Ivy E. (Miller) Gridley. She attended and graduated from the Clay County Community High School in Clay Center, KS. Following graduation she entered nurse's training in the Clay Center Municipal Hospital on June 10, 1931. After a year, the Nursing Center was closed and she married William Edward Kind on July 28, 1932. They made their home on his farm south of Junction City, KS where they lived for 65 years.
In 1997 they moved to the Regency apartments in Junction City, KS after the death of her husband January 10, 2000 she moved to Valley View Estates then to the Senior Life Center in 2006.
Wilma was an active member of the Woodbine Woman's Christian Temperance Union and held many offices in both the local and state WCTU. She was also involved in Geary County as a 4-H leader and held positions of teaching Sunday School classes at Lyona Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children; William J. Kind (Millicent) of Chapman, KS and Lois-Ann Beal (Robert) of Topeka, KS, one sister, Twila Bistline of Lillian, AL, four grandchildren; David Beal (Laine) and Daniel Beal (Paula) all of Topeka, KS, Ginny Williams (Kevin) of Independence, MO and Mark Kind (Marsha) of Salina, KS, seven great-grandchildren; Braden and Parker Beal, Bethany, Rachael and Noah Beal and Kyla and Kody Kind and three step-grandchildren; Patrick, Kathryn and Michelle Williams and three step-great-great
grandchildren; Kaylee and Rachael Winningham and Dillon Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, Valore, infant brother, Forest, sister, Wava Mildred Davidson, grandson, Daniel J. Kind and infant granddaughter, Diane E. Kind.
