Wilma Elaine Ahlers, 70, of Junction City, passed away August 28, 2013 at Valley View Senior Life in Junction City. Wilma was born April 21, 1943 in Wabasha, Minnesota, the daughter William and Doris Goertz. She graduated from Wabasha High School in 1961, and later graduated from Daniel O'Brien Beauty College in Rochester, MN. She moved with her husband and family to Junction City in 1980 courtesy of the U.S. Army. She enjoyed working as a lunchroom aide at Sheridan Elementary and was a homemaker. She loved gardening and spending time with family, especially her four grandchildren. Wilma was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the American Legion Earl C. Gormley, Post # 45 auxiliary, and the V.F.W. Post #8773 auxiliary, all of Junction City.
Wilma married George F. Ahlers on January 11, 1964 in Wabasha, MN. He survives. Other survivors include: a son, Bill Ahlers and his wife Cindy; a daughter, Dawn "Dee" Goudey and her husband Tom, all of Junction City; 4 grandchildren, Amanda & Ashley Goudey, and Ariana & Chase Ahlers. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Alan Estby presiding. Burial will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Manhattan. The family will greet friends Tuesday, September 3, 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Animals, P.O.
