William M. Rinehart, Jr.
William M. "Bill" Rinehart, Jr., 86, of Junction City, retired U.S.A.F. TechSgt., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at his home. Bill was born July 10, 1927 at Concordia, the son of William M. & Ruby O. Bumgardner Rinehart, Sr. He attended schools in Concordia and Junction City, then joined the U.S. Navy in WWII. He later joined the United States Air Force. He served in 3 wars, WWII, the Korean War, and the Viet Nam War. He retired as a TechSgt in 1968. After retirement from the military, he served as manager of the Earl L. Jones VFW Post #1594 in Grand View Plaza for 35 years, retiring in 2003.
Bill was an active outdoorsman, who loved to create habitat for wild birds. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed gardening.
Bill was a member of the VFW, as well as the American Legion Post #45 of Junction City.
Survivors include: 3 sons, Mike Rinehart and wife Sherry, Topeka, Nick Rinehart and wife Angie, Junction City, and Ronnie Blagg, Wichita Falls, TX.; 3 daughters, Toni Rinehart-Grillo, Tucson, Arizona, Tonya Rinehart-Crosson, Wichita Falls, TX, and Carol Reed-Thornton, Nashville, TN.; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, Junction City. Burial will be 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, at Oakland Cemetery, west of Miltonvale. The family will greet friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
