William J. "Bill" Horton, Jr.
William J. "Bill" Horton, Jr., 69, of Topeka, formerly of Junction City, died Oct. 11, 2014 at Providence Living Center. Bill was born Sept. 19, 1945 in Americus, GA, the son of William J. & Annie Louise (Moore) Horton, Sr. Bill was born 5 min. before his twin-brother, Raymond J. Horton.
Bill's father was in the military; therefore, he traveled extensively with his family. Bill graduated from Junction City High School in the Class of 1964. While in high school, Bill 's passion was running cross-country and reading. Bill was a member of the 2nd Missionary Baptist Church, were he was a faithful attendee of Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and and a member of the Youth Choir. For several years, Bill worked at the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (PX) at Ft. Riley.
Survivors include: his mother, Annie L. Horton, Junction City; a brother, Fred Horton and his wife Corine, Topeka; and a sister-in-law, Betty Horton, Topeka. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William J. Horton, Sr. on Jan. 21, 2013; and his twin-brother, Raymond J. Horton on June 5, 2008.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Junction City. Viewing will be at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Cremation will follow, and an inurnment service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley at Manhattan, where he will be buried by his father.
