William A. Gustafson

William A. Gustafson, 95, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Saturday, December 9, at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 14, at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Kyle Berens officiating. The family will receive friends 6- 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Xavier Catholic Church where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Burial will follow the service on Thursday at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to St. Xavier Catholic Church or to the St. Mary's Cemetery Association.

William was born September 4, 1922, the son of Gustaf and Bertha (Ehm) Gustafson.

William was a farmer and rancher many years in Geary County and was a Civil Service Employee at Fort Riley. He was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifelong Hereford Breeder and was an avid Redbone Coonhound Hunter. For many years, he was very instrumental with the Geary County Rural Fire District and the Morris County Rural Water District #1.

He married Mary Ellen Beavers May 7, 1946, at St. Xavier Catholic Church in Junction City. She passed away in 1994.

Survivors include five sons, William A. "Bill" Gustafson, Jr. of Lincoln, NE, John E. Gustafson (Louise) , Gus T. Gustafson (Deb), Karl V. Gustafson and Richard Gustafson (Maureen) all of Junction City, KS; two daughters, Margaret Ringer of Concordia, KS and Karen Leighton (Rollie) of Quinter, KS; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Mary Janice "Jan" Gustafson in 2005 and a son-in-law Darrell Ringer in 1993.
