A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Ogden, Kansas for Willard Dennis Hannagan, 80, Manhattan, Kansas. Father Al Brungardt will officiate. A visitation will take place 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2007, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel 203 N. Washington Street in Junction City, Kansas. Mr. Hannagan passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at his home in rural Geary County. Memorial contributions may be given to the McDowell Creek Community Center or St. Xavier Catholic Church 218 N. Washington Street Junction City, Kansas 66441.

Casket Bearers will be Robert Tully, Peter Tully, John Florence, Alfred "Buzz" Heidel, Dennis "Sam" Heidel and Wayne Erichsen. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Henry Roeser, Jack Poole, Jerry Cameron, Dr. Lee Penner, Lawrence Ehlers, Richard Kramer, Nicholas Wieland, Robert Kramer, Jenna Weeks and Colton Weeks.

Born September 5, 1926 in Manhattan, Kansas, he was the son of William H. and Marie T.(Stich) Hannagan. Mr. Hannagan attended school through the 8th grade at the Tully School House on McDowell Creek and then he went into farming and was a farmer all of his life. On January 6, 1973 he married Helen C. Heidel in Manhattan, Kansas. Mr. Hannagan loved to coon and deer hunt as well as fish. Willard was a Herford cattleman and a good all around cowboy. He loved visting with his family and neighbors and would help them in any way he could. He was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Rural Eastern Geary County Fire Department.

Mr. Hannagan was preceded in death by his parents and a stillborn brother, David Daniel, on December 8th, 1915.

Survivors include his wife, Helen C. (Heidel) Hannagan; 2 daughters, Teresa C. Hannagan of Emporia and Janice M. Hannagan, living at the family farm; 2 grandchildren, Jenna C. Weeks and Colton W. Weeks, living at the family farm; and 1 sister, Adeline Kramer of Herington.
