Wilbur Leroy Newman, age 81, died at Mercy Regional Health Center, on Saturday, July 30, 2011 after a short illness.
He was born March 29, 1930 in Belle Center, Ohio to the late Lester and Mary (Bussert) Newman.
He resided in Ohio, Arizona and most recently in Junction City and Manhattan, KS. He had retired after 13 years at Geary Community Hospital.
Wilbur was a member of Wakefield Methodist Church.
Wilbur will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, good friend and as an accomplished professional musician who loved Bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Carol Joan Roebuck, children; Michael (Kathy)of Simpsonville, SC, Joy (Darrell), of Greer, SC, Mark of Wakefield, KS, Milan (Tammy) of Manhattan, KS, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester Newman and Mary (Bussert) Newman.
No services are planned cremation will take place with the assistance of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.
