CW-2 Wilbur C. "Bill" Wagner (Ret.), 87, of Junction City, died July 22, 2015 at Valley Vista in Wamego. Bill was born Nov. 10, 1927 in Wauwatosa, WI, the son of Louis & Edna (Leistakow) Wagner. He attended schools in Wauwatosa and joined the U.S. Army in 1945. During his military career, Bill served in the Artillery Division in Hawaii, Canada and Alaska, France, Korea, Germany , and Vietnam (2 tours). He retired as a CW-2 in 1973. After his retirement from the military, Bill was the manager of the dining facility on Ft. Riley.
Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Junction City and was active with the Sunday School Class at the church. Bill also was a member of Modern Woodman, and a Lions Club in Arkansas.
Bill married Patricia J. Rebarchek on July 9, 1949 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She died Oct. 29, 1999. Survivors include: 2 sons, Bruce Wagner and his wife Sandy, Lincoln, NE, and Gary Wagner, San Francisco, CA; a daughter, Vicki Bojorquez and her husband Victor, Manhattan; and 6 grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by a son, Craig Wagner in 1982.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, Junction City, with Pastor Laurie Barnes presiding. Inurnment will be in Ft. Riley Post Cemetery, Ft. Riley.
Military honors will be provided at the committal service by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley.
