Memorial services with military honors for Wayne F. Lossman, 67, Milford, Kansas will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. Inurnment will follow the services at Fort Riley Cemetery. Mr. Lossman passed away Saturday, December 23, 2006, at the Geary Community Hospital. Box 580, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mr. Lossman was born May 3, 1939 in Tiffin, OH to Frank and Mary R. (Shaull) Lossman. He graduated from high school in Tarkio, MO in 1957. He attended College at Tarkio College. He married Connie J.A.Geer of Shenandoah, IA on October 24,1959. He served in the United States Army from 1959 until his retirement at Ft. Riley in 1981 with the rank of Sergeant Major. He was a Vietnam Veteran and awarded National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service medal with one Silver and one Bronze Star with one oak leaf cluster, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm, the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal (his 5th Award), and the Meritorious Service Medal.
He served with the Geary County Sheriff's Department from June 1986 until his retirement in October of 2003 (17 years). He retired as Jail Administrator with the rank of Captain. Wayne was employed by Wendell and Phyllis Wright as a tax preparer for H&R Block of Junction City for the last 10 years.
He is survived by his wife Connie Lossman; two daughters, Dawn McElligott of Milford, KS and Michele Ramirez of Foothill Ranch, CA; two sisters, Judy Hardy of Tarkio, MO and Donna Ireland of Fairfax, MO; Five brothers, William Lossman of Laurinburg, NC, Loren Lossman of Louisville, KY, Frank Lossman of Warrensburg, MO, Ronnie Lossman of Warrensburg, MO and Edward Lossman of Martinsburg, WV; and two granddaughters, Lori McElligott of Milford, KS, Tamaryn Ramirez of Foothill Ranch, CA; two grandsons, Patrick McElligott of Milford, KS; Julian Ramirez of Foothill Ranch, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. Also his brother-in-law Gary Geer of Shenandoah, IA and his brother in friendship; Charles Bauer of Junction City, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Mary Lossman.
