Wayne Walter Erichsen, 75, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka, Kansas. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2022 at JCNAZ. A visitation will be held Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at JCNAZ. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to Humboldt Creek Community Center.
Wayne was born July 3, 1947, in Junction City, Kansas the son of Walter F. and Oma F. (Riat) Erichsen.
Wayne graduated from Junction City High School, class of 1965. He resided in rural Geary County his entire life where he worked as a farmer and stockman. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting coyotes. He also enjoyed watching wester movies. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Elk's Lodge #1037 in Junction City. He was an active 4-H parent and enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in various events.
On November 6, 1971, he married Karen Hildebrand at the Brookside School. They just celebrated their 50th-Wedding-Anniversary. Together they had four wonderful children, Lynn, Jenny, Pam, and Luke.
Survivors include his wife Karen of the home in Junction City; one son, Luke Erichsen of Junction City, Kansas; three daughters, Lynn (Tracy) Sohnrey of Junction City, Jenny Erichsen of Junction City, and Pamela (Mark) Miller of Chapman, Kansas; six grandchildren, Wyatt, Gracie, Hanna, Kaitlyn, Newt, and Austin; two step-grandchildren, Louis and Lydia; one sister, Ann (Dennis) Endorf of Nevis, Minnesota; two nieces, Rachel Baumann and Beth Kranz of Apple Valley, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and one grandson, Grady Erichsen.
