Ward O. Edberg, 78, Junction City, died Jan. 2, 2016 at Geary Community Hospital. Ward was born July 14, 1937 in Marshall, Minnesota, the son of Elmer A. and Cecelia (Kosse) Edberg. At a young age, Ward moved with his family to Iowa, and he graduated from Toledo High School in Toledo, Iowa in the Class of 1955. Ward entered the U.S. Army in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1962. Ward was a Lab Technician for Lennox Industries in Dallas, TX for 30 years, before he retired.
Ward married Carilyn Westman on June 5, 1960 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Carilyn survives. Other survivors include: a son, Taylor Harrison Edberg (Sarah), Vail, Arizona; 3 daughters, Holly Jeanne Ramon (Ricky), The Colony, Texas, Margo Ann Connell (Michael), Mustang, Oklahoma, and Heidi Leigh Edwards, Junction City; a brother, Wayne Edberg, Central City, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Micah Gomez, Mia Ramon, Kaleen Ezelle, Carter Connell, Brennan Edwards, Cameron Edwards, Payton Edberg, and Trenton Edberg; and 5 great grandchildren, Austin Gomez, Elise Gomez, Vera Ezelle, Ezekiel Edwards, and Vivian Edwards. Ward was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
It was Ward's wishes to be cremated.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m, Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, with Pastor B.J. Solander presiding. Burial will be at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley, Manhattan. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley. Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson Cancer Research Center, or, The Friends of Animals, sent in care of the funeral home.
