Wanda Gail Young, 62, of Junction City, died October 16, 2016 at her home. Wanda was born August 10, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Roy Lee & Gayle Grace (Ellis) Brown. As Wanda's father was in the military, she moved several different places, but primarily in California, where she attended school and graduated in 1972 from Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, Calif. She later attended Golden West Community College. She spent many years of her life in Calif., having lived in San Clemente, Naples, and Garden Grove. She worked as a Supervisor at the Superior Court of Orange County, Calif for many years.
Wanda married Dennis Tramer on August 19, 1972. They were later divorced. Wanda later married Peter Jay Young on July 4, 1994 in Incline Village, Nevada. Peter survives.
Wanda and Peter moved to Junction City in June, 2010. Having only lived in Junction City for just over six years, Wanda was quite active in the community of Junction City. She and Peter were active members of the First Presbyterian Church, where she servcd as an Elder; Wanda was active with the Geary County Historical Society, served as Secretary of Open Door, and was a member of the Ladies' Reading Club.
Wanda is survived by her husband Peter; 3 sons, Eric Allen Tramer, Oceanside, Calif., Bart Daniel Tramer, Santa Rosa, Calif., and Mark L. Young and his wife Leona, Lake Quivera, Ks.; and 4 grandchildren, Nicole, Kelly, Noah, and Aspen.
It was Wanda's choice to be cremated
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City, with Pastor Sue Trei-Conrad presiding. A Committal/Inurnment service will be 2:30 p.m., Friday at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley, Manhattan.
