Walter Sanders Sr., 76, Junction City, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at his home. He was born in Browns Ala., the sone of the late Willie Smith and Jennie Hicks. He was raised by his late aunt Rebecca Sanders of Gallion, Ala.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the Second Missionary Baptist Church. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Wedenesday, June 11, 20008.
He retired from Civil Services, serving 21 years, and the United States Army Reserve, where he served 30 years.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn; son Robert (Johnnie) of Topeka, daughters Rebecca of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Margaret (Steve) Morris, Copperas Cove, Texas,; two sisters Claudia (Lee) Alford and Margo Ward; and two brothers Charlie (Enis) Campbell and Larry (Patricia) Campbell; Five Grandchildren; Robbie Sanders, Demetruis Jackson, Anthony Jackson, Brandi Boler and Marnika Morris; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Walter Sanders, Jr. and four beloved brothers and one sister.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe directed to Evelyn Sanders, 330 West 11th Street, Junction City, 66441 to be directed to the organization of her choice.
