Walter R "Ron" McKenzie Sr., 82, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at his home in Junction City. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Tim Maguffee officiating. The family will have a reception at the church one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow the funeral at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Johnson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the First Presbyterian Church.
Ron was born August 12, 1938, in Beaumont, TX the son of James William and Rosa Del (McCaa) McKenzie, Jr.
Ron served in the Navy for two years. He worked as a civil servant at Fort Riley for forty three years before he retired. Ron also attended Kansas State University. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Union Lodge #7 A.F.&A.M. in Junction City, KS.
He married Rosemary Ann Chapman on November 11, 1961. She passed away June 18, 2019.
Survivors include one son; Bud McKenzie and his wife Kelly of Abilene, KS; one daughter, Karin Rosa and her husband William of Riley, KS; seven grandchildren, Abigail McKenzie, Dylan McKenzie, Allison McKenzie, Rocky Barber and his wife Heidi, Christopher Barber and his wife Heather, Rikki Weatzig and her husband Derick and Collins Barber and his wife Dani; sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rosemary and one brother James William McKenze, III.
