"Wally" Waltraud Irmgart Zilli Skillern

Memorial services for Waltraud "Wally" Irmgart Zilli Skillern, 72, of Junction City will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street with Pastor Viola Jones officiating. No visitation is planned. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will follow the services at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Mrs. Skillern passed away at her home on June 19, 2010 with her family at her side. Memorial contributions may be given to the Cancer Center, c/o St. Francis Health Center Foundation, 1700 SW 7th Street, Topeka, KS 66606.

Mrs. Skillern was born April 13, 1938, Frankfurt, Germany to Alfred and Elizabeth (Dener) Herpe. She married Earnest Skillern, Jr. May 5, 1961 in Germany and she worked for Good Samaritan Nursing Home as a nurse's aide retiring as a supervisor after 20 years.

She is survived by her husband Earnest Skillern, Jr., three daughters; Charlotte Self of Manhattan, KS, Mary Ann DeSilva of Bermuda and Janie Nichols of Junction City, KS, two sons; Earnest Skillern and Ivan Skillern both of Junction City, KS, one sister; Helga Kleet of Germany, eleven grandchildren; Latanya Skillern (Self), Shana Johnson (Self), April Self, Robert Grant, III, Jerome Grant, Kirt Nichols, Jr., Rosalind Nichols, Alyse Skillern, Jazmine Skillern, Alexis Skillern, and Courtney Skillern and many great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew of Germany.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
