Virginia “Ginny” Traxel, age 68, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at her home in Junction City, KS, after a two-year battle with cancer. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Nazarene in Junction City with Timothy Traxel officiating. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.
Ginny was born on October 14, 1954, in Russell, KS, to Samuel and Artibe Rushing. She attended Russell schools and upon high school graduation moved to Junction City, KS, to live with cousins. She attended the Church of the Nazarene where she met and married Eugene “Gene” Traxel on June 23, 1973
She was a stay-at-home mother for their three children for 22 years. She then obtained her Elementary Education teaching degree from Kansas State University and graduated in December of 2002. She taught third grade at Fort Riley Elementary for 17 years.
Ginny was fully devoted to God, her husband, her family, and her friends. She invested heavily in their lives. She enjoyed fishing, baking cakes, cooking, sewing, teaching children’s church and making memories with grandchildren. She was a long-time member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gene, her three children: Brent Traxel (Gayle) of Oologah, OK; Kimberly Roberts (Mark) of Junction City, KS; Timothy Traxel (Sarah) of Siloam Springs, AR; five grandchildren: Kayleigh, Zachary, Isaiah, Joshua and Elijah; her five brothers: William, David, Benjamin, Nathan and Tommy; one sister, Joyce; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Rushing and sisters Marie Fett and Betty Rushing.

Memorials may also be left at Johnson Funeral Home or at the Junction City Church of the Nazarene.
