Virginia F. Platt

Virginia "Gini" Fink Platt passed away on her birthday, February 5, 2011, at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, Kansas. A private family memorial will be held. Cremation has taken place.

She was born in Manhattan, Kansas, to Emma Weeks and H. Guy Fink. Mrs. Platt was raised in Topeka where she graduated from Washburn High School and attended Washburn University as a psychology major. She was the only two-time Kaw Queen at Washburn University. She married Charles I. Platt in 1942 in Topeka.

After World War II, Mrs. Platt, worked as secretary to Senator I.M. Platt during the legislative session while Charles finished law school. The family moved to Junction City in 1949 when Charles joined his father's law firm.
Mrs. Platt worked in the Platt and Platt law office until Charles retired.

Mrs. Platt attended Kansas State University as an art major, studying under the renowned Garzio. She was an accomplished artist and landscape designer. She enjoyed putting time into her beautiful gardens and playing bridge with her closest friends.

Mrs. Platt was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Junction City and Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity, and a Golden Girl (50-year member) and past-president of Chapter AR of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Mrs. Platt was pre-deceased by Charles in March of 2001. She is survived by her two children, Pamela Platt Whittmore and her husband Gregory, of Fort Worth, Texas, and David R. Platt and his wife Cyndy, of Junction City, Kansas. She had five grandchildren, Brent D. Bowen, his wife Chrysandra, and their two children, of Denton, Texas; Trent D. Bowen, his wife Kacey, and their two children, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Sean Whittmore of Conroe, Texas; Brian D. Platt and his wife Katie, of Austin, Texas; and Laura Platt of Wichita, Kansas.
