Virginia and Virgilio, due to Virgilio's Army service, traveled many places in accordance with military life and ultimately settled in Junction City, Kansas. Together they assisted numerous relatives with immigrating from the Philippines. As a result, many of the relatives also settled with them in Junction City, KS. She was a nurturing mother to her three children Vaughn, Velynda, and Vernier, but was known to give a stern pinch if necessary when they were growing up. As a treat, she also enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the Casino to play the slot machines with her family. She always looked forward to being lucky and winning "big money". In their downtime, she and Virgilio would relax and watch The Filipino Channel (TFC) together to catch up on news from the Philippines and see the latest entertainment.
Virginia had some health issues the past few years which restricted her travel. Prior to that she enjoyed many trips to visit family with Virgilio to the Philippines, Arizona, California, Nevada, and Washington. She recently had a kidney transplant and was looking forward to traveling again with Virgilio to visit her children and grandchildren who live in Texas and Hawaii after her recovery.
In addition to her interests at home, she was a hard worker. She worked over 25 years with the Riley LLC Services on Fort Riley until she had to retire due to health complications. To commemorate her outstanding service and dedication to excellence with the company, she was awarded with the 25 year service award.
Virginia also enjoyed social events and gatherings as a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, the Filipino American Association, and the Filipino American Club. She and Virgilio attended mass every Sunday. They were at Filipino gatherings almost every weekend and enjoyed a close knit bond with their friends and family.
