Virginia Lee Beatty, 87, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on May 20, 2024, at Valley View Senior Life.
Virginia was born on October 16, 1936, to George “Frank” and Lucenia (Hamilton) Threlkeld at Shelbina, Missouri.
She married CSM Samuel "Junior" Beatty, Jr., (ret. & dec.) of Clarence, Missouri on October 1, 1955, and together had five children. They would later divorce.
Virginia worked for AAFES in various capacities around the world, retiring from Ft. Riley after 25 plus years as management. She was a happy and outgoing woman who loved meeting new people, watching sports (with her favorites being football and basketball), working puzzles, and playing B.I.N.G.O.
She is survived by her children, George Beatty and his life long partner, Conny Lage of Milford, Kansas, Mark Beatty of Junction City, Kansas, and Virginia Roberts of Lillington, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Brandie (Beatty) Danner, Megan (Roberts) Carfi, Chelsea Roberts, and Sean Roberts; two sister-in-laws, Deloris Threlkeld and Elsie Threlkeld; eight great-grandchildren, great great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless friends and extended family.
Virginia was preceded by her parents, Frank and Lucenia; one daughter, Edith Jane Beatty; one son, Joseph Lewis "Joe" Beatty and his life long partner, Vicki J. Downey; one grandson, Bobby Glen Beatty; two brothers, Frank “Terry” Threlkeld and James "Jim" Threlkeld.
Burial will take place at a later date in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Shelbina, Missouri with a service for close family in her honor.
