Virgil F. Dalton, 80, of Junction City, KS, passed away on May 16, 2016. A remembrance ceremony will be held at the Iwin Army Community Hospital Chapel on the 2nd floor on Fort Riley, KS, Friday, May 27, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.
He was born on September 1, 1935, in Sun, West Virginia.
He enlisted shortly after the age of 20 and proudly served as a member of the United States Army.
Virgil was a truck driver for over forty years after his service in the military. He last drove for DANCO.
His hobbies were NASCAR and "do it yourself" crafts. He had been known to make furniture and creative lighting. He was very creative. If he could think it up, he could make it.
He was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol based out of Florida for 21 years.
Virgil is survived by his loving family: Daughter, Dorothy "Liz" Elizabeth and husband Toloai "Sam" Sosene of Fort Riley, KS; Fiancé, Laura Scott of Junction City, KS; Grandson, Ladaniann Sosene of Ft. Riley, KS; and Granddaughter, Malili Sosene of Ft. Riley, KS.
He was preceded in death by: Mother, Callie Allen Dalton; Biological Mother, Annie Mae Staples; Biological Father, Frederick Hubert Staples; and Brother, Charles Taylor.
