Vincent J. "Uncle Vince" Frontiera, 64, of Junction City, died unexpectedly Wed., May 15, at Geary Community Hospital. Vince was born Oct. 6, 1948 in Boston, MA., the eldest child of Philip & Anna Antonelli Frontiera. He attended schools in Boston, and graduated from South Boston High School in 1966. Vince entered the military immediately after graduation.
He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army, having had duty in Ft. Devens (MA.), Rhode Island Arsenal, Schofield Barracks (Hawaii), Viet Nam, Ft. Riley, 2 tours in Germany, Ft. Carson (Colo.), Honduras, Ft. Dix (NJ), and retiring as an E-7 (SFC) at Ft. Riley in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion Post #45 at Junction City.
Vince married Wilma May on June 25, 1976 in Junction City. She survives of the home. Other survivors include: a daughter, Angela Frontiera, Hyde Park, MA., a step-daughter, Linda Beeman and husband Rick, Houston, TX.; his parents, Philip & Anna Frontiera, Sr., Medford, MA., a brother, Philip Frontiera, Jr., Boston, MA.; 2 sisters, Donna Weser and husband Steve, Revere, MA., and Debbie Irr and husband Jim, Quincy, MA.; 2 granddaughters, Lacey Le and husband Joey, and Kaitlin Beeman, and many nieces and nephews, and his favorite dogs, Sadie and Norton.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2013 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street in Junction City. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Manhattan. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley. The family will greet friends, Sunday, May 19, 2013, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Animals, or the Wounded Warriors, sent in care of the funeral home.
