Victor Cappelletti, Jr. 73, of Junction City, KS died January 22, 2002 at Mercy Health Center in Manhattan, KS. Services will be held at the St. Xavier Catholic Church, Friday, Jan. 25, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Father Al Brungardt will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:30 Rosary service at Johnson Funeral Chapel. Victor was born to Vittorio and Rosa (Merli) Cappelletti, Sr. at Chicago Heights, Illinois. He married Maria G. Bertucci January 23, 1954 at San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy, she survives of the home. Victor served in the U S Coast Guard for 18 months before joining the U S Army, he served with the AirBorne Ranger Regiment in Korea, he did three overseas tours, including Viet Nam, he received the Bronze Star Medal, Two National Defense Service Medals, Army Commendation Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, he retired from the Army July 31, 1969 as a 1st SGT after 26 years of service. He moved to Junction City, KS after retiring. He was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, Men of E.S.A., BPOE #1037, Holy name Society, Fort Greely, AK, Sertoma International-Sergeant of Arms, Junction City Association of Life Underwriters and Retired Enlisted Association, Inc. He was the past Vice President of Airborne Rangers of the Korean War 7th Company. He is survived by Three Daughters; Nancy Cappelletti Stevenson of Aberdeen, MD, Cristiana Cappelletti-Curry of Colorado Springs, CO and Rosemarie Cappelletti Norris of Junction City, KS, One Brother; Guerrino Cappelletti of Park Forrest, Il, Two Sisters; Comenica Formentini of Redwood city, CA, Violet Carpellotti of Ellicott City, MD and Seven Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and Three Brothers.Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Burnham, Ron Dokken, Ranger Doug Carlson, Ranger Minor Kelso, Ranger Wes Rash, Ranger Ed Therens, Robert Norris, MG Mitchell H. Stevenson and LTC Michael S. Curry, Musician will be Sister Rosalyn Juenemann, Memorial contributions may be made to: American Cancer Research, 1315 SW Arrowhead, Topeka, KS 66604 and/or St. Xavier Catholic Church, 214 N. Washington, Junction city, KS 66441.
