Vera R. Adams, 74, Junction City, died Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1220 W. 8th Street in Junction City. Reverend Ken James will officiate. A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. following the service at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Road Manhattan, KS. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Southern Baptist Church.
Vera was born November 8, 1937, in Streator, IL. the daughter of Amos and Maurita (Inman) Benstine.
Vera worked as the administrative assistant in the human resource office for the City of Junction City for over twenty years. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church where she taught sunday school for thirty years.
She married Gerald Dean Adams. He passed away June 15, 2002.
Survivors include one son, Richard E. Adams and three daughters, Marcia Mills, Janet Lockwood and Donna Mulvey all of Junction City. She is also survived by one brother, Gerald Benstine and one sister, Ethel Benstine both of Streator, Ill. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Gladys Lucille Benstine and one daughter, Lisa Ann Adams, February 18, 1967.
