JAMES M. BEAVERS AND VERA G. BEAVERS
Funeral services for James M. Beavers, 88, and Vera G. Beavers, 85, both of Junction City, KS will be Wednesday, July 13, 2005,10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Gerald Martin officiating, burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. and Mrs. Beavers will be Tuesday, July 12, 2005, 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.
Mr. Beavers passed away July 8, 2005 at home. Mrs. Beavers passed away July 9, 2005 at Geary Community Hospital. Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church, 804 N. Jefferson, Junction City, KS and/or Shriners Hospital for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131.
Mr. Beavers, 88, passed away July 8, 2005, at home in Junction City, KS. He was born Dec. 25, 1916 at Jefferson, SD, to Raleigh E.Beavers and Dorothea J. (Mohr) Beavers. He worked on the family farm for some years, then in the dairy industry for 44 ½ years, retiring from Westside Dairy, Junction City in 1980. During World War II, Mr. Beavers served three years as an Army Sergeant in North Africa, Italy and Germany. Mr. Beavers was a member of the First United Methodist Church, 50 yr Masonic Lodge member, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Isis Temple, Past Worthy Patron Eastern Star, Past Commander Legion of Honor, Past Commander Junction City/Ft. Riley Shrine Club. On April 15, 1942, James married Vera G. (Anderson) Goodwin in Crookston, MN.
Mrs. Beavers, 85, passed away July 9, 2005, at Geary Community Hospital. She was born Feb. 21, 1920, at Obert, NE, to Gustave A. Anderson and Elizabeth (Bergman) Anderson. Mrs. Beavers was raised in Hartington, NE. During World War II, she worked at The Naval Munitions Depot in Hastings, NE. Mrs.Beavers was a homemaker for many years and in 1967
began at Good Samaritan Home as Nurses Aide and became their First Activity Director, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Beavers was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Past Worthy Matron Eastern Star.
Mr. and Mrs. Beavers are survived by daughters Sherril Proctor, Judy Houston, Junction City, Kathy Sanchez and husband Eugene, Oakland, CA, and by sons David and wife Mary, Hastings, NE and Roger and wife Sharon, Felton, DE; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Beavers is also survived by brothers Harvey and wife Bev, St.George, UT and Blaine and wife Bea, Jefferson, SD.
Mr. and Mrs. Beavers were preceded in death by their parents, one grandchild, her sister Katie Larson, Hastings, NE; sons-in-law Henry Houston and Claude Proctor, Junction City.
