Vena L. Devin Rowbotham, 102, of Junction City, passed away on July 20, 2015 at Valley View Senior Life Center. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Cemetery with Reverend Nikki Woolsey officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials have been designated to the Zion United Church of Christ, 1811 McFarland Road, Junction City, KS 66441.
She was born on May 21, 1913, Rowe, Oklahoma to Jefferson and Molly (Lovelady) Armes.
On November 2, 1931 she married James O. Devin in Oklahoma and they moved to Junction City in 1941. Vena worked at Quartermaster Laundry for 20 years retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, the E.H.U. Lyons Creek Club, the Christian Women's Club and the National Association of Retired Civil Service Workers.
Vena enjoyed being with her family, she loved to quilt and read, she loved to cook and she loved her flowers. She was the most positive person you would ever meet.
James preceded her in death March 5, 1982, she later married Elzia Rowbotham he preceded her in death May of 1986.
Vena is survived by her Daughters, Wanda McRae, Junction City, KS and Sue Travis, Rockford, MI; her Son, Paul (Sally) Devin, West Des Moines, IA; twenty grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and twenty great-great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Mary Devin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters, her sons, Jimmy Ray Devin and Gary D. Devin; her Sons-in-Law, Richard McRae and James Travis; her grandsons, Jimmy Devin, Jr., Gary Travis and Doug Devin; her granddaughter's, Brenda and Cindy Devin; infant great-grandson, Christopher Dale Devin and great-granddaughter, Tracy Travis.
