A Celebration of Life service for Vaudene Ann Field, 56, of Junction City will be at 4 p.m., Friday, December 17th, 2010 with Pastor Matthew Glasgow and Pastor Ted Lester officiating. The service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 113 W. 5th Street, Junction City, KS. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 16th, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church. A private family burial will be held. She passed away at Geary Community Hospital on December 12th, 2010.
Vaudene was born April 27th, 1954, in Lincoln, KS to Arthur W. and Lola Ann (Spear) Howell. She graduated in 1972 from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, KS. Vaudene went on to earn her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Pipe Organ Performance and Education from Kansas State University.
Vaudene was hired at the age of 19 to be the Organist of the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City, KS and was entering her 37th year in that position at the time of her death. In addition, Vaudene was an educator, serving in both the Manhattan and Junction City school districts. She was in her 20th year with USD 475, having started her career at Junction City High School in 1991 as the Vocal/Music Teacher. For the past ten years she served as an Instructional Technologist and SharePoint System Administrator for the school district and at Kansas State University.
Vaudene married Rex Field on August 3rd, 1990 in Junction City, KS. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her mother, Lola A. Howell of Lincoln, KS, six brothers and one sister, daughter Terrah and husband Brandon Stroda of Junction City, son Tim Pendarvis of Washington, DC, step-son Brian and wife Rachael Field, step-daughter Trisha and husband Brad Morris, and grandchildren Aidan Field, Reagan Morris, Braedon and Braxton Stroda, all of Junction City, KS.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur W. Howell, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Tim Pendarvis, Brian Field, Brad Morris, Brandon Stroda, Carl "Sam" Stebbins and Mike Ryan.
