Graveside services for Vaneta M. Halter, 80, of Junction City will be Friday, November 19, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Fort Riley Cemetery with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. Visitation will be tonight from, November 18, 2010 from 6-8 pm at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. Mrs. Halter passed away at Alterra Sterling House on November 12, 2010. Memorial contributions have been designated to the Alterra Sterling House, 1022 Caroline Avenue, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mrs. Halter was born June 20, 1930 Denver, CO to Lyndel & Bertha (Mitze) Wolfkill. She married Wilford Halter on October 4, 1988. She worked for many years as a nurse's aide.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Smith and her husband Ken of Denver, CO, her nephews, Tony Smith and Ollie Smith and her niece, Krystal Thomas and her husband Jef all of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her great-nephews, Zach and Merryck and her great-nieces Ashleigh, Bailee, Makinzey and Amelia and one great-great nephew, Caleb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Esther Wolfkill, her husband and two brothers, William Wolfkill and Delbert Wolfkill.
