 Graveside services for Thurman Young, Sr, 84, Junction City, KS will be held at Fort Riley Cemetery, Monday, August 26, 2002,at 1:30 p.m.Reverend D.M. Westberg of the Faith Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church will officiate. Thurman died August 20, 2002 at the VA Hospital, Topeka, KS. Visitation time will be Monday, August 26, 2002, 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the Faith Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, 1010 Burke Street, Junction City,KS 66441. Thurman was born December 16, 1917, Chicago,IL to Oscar and Marion (Puckett) Young. Thurman served in the US Army, he worked special services in
recreation, he retired as a SFC in January of 1966, he was stationed at Fort Riley, KS June of 1961, he had been a resident of Junction City, KS since his retirement from the service. Memberships included VFW #8773, Acacia lodge, AMVETS and the American Legion. Survivors: Two Sons; Thurman Young, Jr., and Edwin Young both of Junction City, KS, Two Daughters, Marion Foster of Fort Sill, OK and Sharon Lyons of Pembroke Pines, FL and Eleven grandchildren Preceded In Death By his parents. Casket bearers: Fort Riley Honor Guard.
