A Mass of Christian Burial for MSG (Ret) Thomas (Tom) P. Goudey, 69, of Junction City will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Mr. Goudey passed away at Geary Community Hospital August 2, 2006. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64105 and/or Friends of Animals, P.O. Box 580, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mr. Goudey was born January 10, 1937, Pittsfield, MA to Thomas C. and Nora (O'Hara) Goudey. He joined the US Army and served in Viet Nam, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, 6th Award, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal with 1 Silver Service Star, Republic of Viet Nam Gallantry Cross with Palm and the Marksman Badge. He retired as a MSG following over 23 years of service. He had been a resident of Junction City since 1979 and was the owner and operator of Tom's Men's Wear.
He married Rita Hartl, October 8, 1960, Deggendorf Germany, she survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Thomas J. Goudey and Michael J. Goudey both of Junction City, three daughters, Maureen Danielson of Tacoma, WA, Debbie Soldano of Junction City and Sandra Sly of Topeka, KS, two brothers, Donald F. Goudey of Stockbridge, MA and John J. Goudey of New Marlborough, MA, one sister, Maureen Anguiano of Oceanside, CA and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
