Thomas La Rue Clark, Jr., 79, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on December 17, 2023, at Enterprise Estates Nursing Center.
Thomas was born on August 14, 1944, to Thomas Clark Sr. and Josephine “Mayden” Clark-Hohman in Junction City, Kansas. Tom graduated from Junction City High School in 1962. He played many sports during his high school career to include both football and wrestling. Directly after graduating, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy on June 28, 1962, and served honorably.
After his enlistment in the Navy he met his first wife, Judy and they raised two daughters, Kimberly and Tammie until their divorce.
In 1978, Tom met his second wife Robin and married in 1981. They shared 42 years of marriage together and raised their daughter Alexandria in their hometown of Junction City.
Tom was a jack of all trades, he worked many different jobs around town until he found his long term passion serving the community as a law enforcement officer. He worked in law enforcement for 30 years and retired as the Junction City Police Chief in 1996.
Tom was an active person and looked for ways to keep busy after retirement. These activities included fishing, hunting, and boating. After two years of retirement, he decided to volunteer at Junction City Middle School and this later turned into a full-time position for 20 years, retiring in 2018.
After his second retirement, he enjoyed relaxing at the lake and spending quality time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Robin; three daughters, Kimberly Carr (Robert) of Rogers, Arkansas, Tammie McKeithan (Kevin) of Chapman, Kansas, and Alexandria Clark of Junction City, Kansas; one step-brother, Ed Hohman (Gloria) of Wakefield, Kansas; four grandchildren, Caleb Carr (Cassie), Grace Carr, Taylor Carr, Austin McKeithan (Molly) and a host of other family and friends.
Tom is preceded by his parents; one son, Sean Clark and his step-father, Faye Hohman.
