Terry Allen Schad, 51, in the presence of family, close friends and God, left our world peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, Kan., to join the waiting arms of his beloved mother "Patsy" in heaven.
For those who were privileged to know Terry, we lost more than a son, a father, a brother, a relative and a friend, but one of the truly bright lights of this world. No one lit up a room or enjoyed a good time like Terry. We will miss his quips, his kindness, his strength, and his selfless way of making our lives a bit happier.
To honor Terry, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February, 21, 2009, at St. Xavier's Catholic Church, located at Third and Washington streets in Junction City with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February, 20, 2009, 6 to 8 p.m., at Penwell-Gabel Mass Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue, Junction City.
Terry was born in Junction City on January 8, 1958 to Jerry and Patricia Schad. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1976 and from Kansas State University in 1980 where he received a Bachelors degree in Mass Communications. He was an employee of Sprint, now Embarq, since 1989.
Terry married Tammy Geringer in 1988 in Junction City, and together with her son Jeremy Antenen, began a life together. They soon gave birth to a son, Michael, on August 9, 1988. They divorced in 1999 but remained close and trusted friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his mother Patricia, who left us on the same day, February 17, one year earlier.
He is survived by his son Michael of Junction City who he treasured; his father, Jerry of Junction City; his grandmother Marcella Dreiling of Chapman, Kan.; his brother Thomas, of Kansas City, MO, his sister Kathy (Schad) Henderson and his brother-in-law Bryant Henderson of Junction City; his step-son Jeremy of Los Angeles, CA and his nephew and niece Christopher and Brenna Henderson also of Junction City.
At the request of his son and in honor of his dad, memorials may be made to Friends of the Animals, P.O. Box 580, Junction City, KS 66441.
Terry left us way too soon. But he gave us a lifetime of memories that we will cherish, share with one another, and revisit time and time again for strength and comfort, and to honor the special light – the spirit of Terry - that lit up our world and made us smile. Our world is now less bright, but the heavens are shining as the light of Terry joins his mother and the family of God.
