Teddy B. (Ted) Gleason, 85, Junction City, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the Geary Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place with the assistance of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Graveside services will be conducted at 1p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with Deacon Rex Matney officating.

Ted was born April 30, 1927; the son of Clifton and Edith (Allen) Gleason. He was the youngest of the five brothers, Melvin, Keith, Cloise and Tom Gleason, all deceased. Ted had two children, Roger and Miki, both deceased. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Pauline (Price) of the home, Jack Taylor, Judith Switzer, six grandchildren, Eric, Erin, Evan Switzer; Sarah Simon, John Taylor and Yale Taylor. Six Great-Grandchildren, Nathaniel, Josiah, Sophia, Cole, Emma, and Oliver, (two weeks old). Mary Gleason, wife of Tom Gleason, brother-in-law, Colonel Hollis Logan, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donald and Darlene Alison of Topeka, KS.


Ted served in the United States Navy during World War II and returned to the service during the Korean War, re-enlisting in the New organized, United States Air Force. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1970. Following his retirement from the USAF, he was employed by CSI of Junction City, as a Micro Wave Engineer.

After several years with CSI he left to form his own company, Tri-River Cable Television. He built the original cable systems of Chapman, Solomon and Enterprise, KS. They had approximately 40 systems before selling in 1979.

He then started another cable company with his long time business associate, Larry Trimble, and then built and acquired approximately 140 systems in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Illinois. They sold those systems in 1985. He was inducted into the Pacesetter Cable Television Hall of Fame in the Mid-90's.

He enjoyed the coffee club, traveling, gardening, reading, and all his
grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. He is loved and will be greatly missed.
