Tae Ryong Bernard, 79, of Junction City, KS, passed away on November 5, 2016. Penwell-Gabel funeral Home is assisting the family with burial arrangements.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Monday, November 14, at 11:00am at the Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church on 1010 Burke Dr. in Junction City, KS, with Pastor Nathan Dudley officiating.
A visitation will be held Sunday, November 13, 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home at 203 N. Washington St. in Junction City, KS.
A Committal Service will follow the service at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd., Manhattan, KS.
Tae was born on May 5, 1937, in Busan, Korea to Joung Kup Lee and Ben Bok Sun. She was raised in a loving family and lived in Korea until the 1960's when she moved to the United States. She was a loving mother and wife. She kept a meticulous home. Tae was known to many as "Mom". She also had a strong work ethic. She would go above and beyond what was asked of her. Her employers valued her dedication. She was a strong woman. One of her legacies was how she brought her 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and her mother from Korea and cared for them with the help of her husband.
Tae married Calvin Bernard on May 21, 1977 at Fort Riley, KS. She resided in Junction City, Kansas until her passing.
Tae is survived by her loving Husband, Calvin Bernard of Junction City, KS; Son, Phillipe Greene of Columbus, OH; Daughter, Curlena and husband Elvin Johnson of Columbia, SC; Fur Baby China; Grandchildren Taeleigha Greene, Myana Johnson, and Tyler Baker Tyus Johnson; Great-Grandchild Kenjiah Johnson; Step-Children Calvin T. Bernard and wife Jacqueline, Lawrence Bernard Sr. and wife Joyce, Carey Bernard Sr. and wife Janice, Richard Bernard, Adrienne Bernard-Presley and husband Willie James, Cynthia Bernard-Weaver, Patricia Bernard-Egans; 19 Grandchildren and 22 Great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials are suggested to the Apostolic Academy School, 2512 W. Rucker Rd., Junction City, KS, 66441.
