Sylvester Peter "Sal" Eakes, 85, of Wakefield, KS, passed away on January 20, 2018. Services are scheduled at a later time.
Sal was born May 14, 1932 in Plains, KS to George and Barbara (Roth) Eakes. As a young man, he entered into military service with the United States Air Force. He married Carmen Marie Swaim on September 4, 1954 at The Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina, KS. With his military obligation, the family traveled to many places and ultimately settled in Wakefield, KS in 1965.
Sal had many talents. He loved to dance, travel, and spend time with friends and family.
Sal was a family man. He was a dedicated husband and loving father. He loved spending time with his grandchild. He was known for "adopting" people. He sacrificed for family, blood related or not.
Sal is survived by his loving Wife, Carmen, of the home; his Two Sons, Thomas Eakes and John Eakes; 3 grandchildren; one great grandchild and many loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dove Cremation and Funeral Service, of Junction City, is assisting the family with arrangements.
