Susie R. Smith

Susie R. Smith, 76, of Junction City, died Dec. 12, 2014 at Geary Community Hospital.

Susie was born Aug. 5, 1938 in Scotland Neck, North Carolina, the daughter of Moses and Pinney (Knight) Hall. Susie graduated from Scotland Neck High School in the Class of 1958. She later attended beautician school in Washington, D.C. Susie moved to Junction City in 1972 with her husband who was in the U.S. Army. Susie was the Records Clerk at the Geary County Sheriff's Office for 39 years.

Susie married McKinley Smith, Jr. on Mar. 9, 1959 in Washington, D.C. He died Feb. 5, 2013.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Errik M. Smith and his wife Gabby, Killeen, TX, Elton L. Smith and his wife Regan, Vancouver, B.C., and Emory Smith and his wife Robin, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 2 brothers, Richard Hall, Maryland, and Leroy Hall, Norfolk, Virginia; a sister, Queen Hall, Maryland; and 7 grandchildren. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Buck Hall; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Smith and Oletha Boyd.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mass Hinitt Chapel,805 Caroline Avenue, Junction City. Burial will be in the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley, Manhattan.

The family will greet friends on Friday morning, 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
