Susie S. Gumm, 89, of Junction City, passed away on Monday, April 9, at her home. A visitation will be held 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow the visitation. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the organization of the donor's choice.
She was born on June 28, 1928, Kyoto, Japan to Yasobei and Yae (Teraishi) Uehara.
Susie worked at Ft. Riley from 1964 until 1989 in the finance and accounting division. She enjoyed bowling, planting flowers, playing cards and an occasional trip to the casino. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling.
On October 6, 1953, she married Denzel R. "doc" Gumm. He passed away August 19, 2011.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret A. Fisher of Junction City, KS; three granddaughters, Crystal M. Fisher, Brandy Rivera and Mandy Fisher all of Junction City, KS; five great grandchildren, Tiffany D. Rivera, Donte M. Phelps, Victoria M. Rivera, Donelle A. Phelps and Angelina M. Rivera; and extended family in Japan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings.
