Steven S Coffey
Steven S Coffey, 67, of Junction City, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 at his home near Milford Lake. He was born Dec. 28, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Jasper E. and Doris (Andrews) Coffey. He moved with his family to the Ozarks and graduated from Camdenton (Mo.) High School and he attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo.
Steve enlisted in the U.S. Army in Sept. 1970 and served in the Vietnam War. Steve served in the K-9 Unit and was very close to his dog "Fuzzy". He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the V.F.W., the AARP, and the V.A. Stroke Group.
He owned and operated Steve's Outdoors and Coffey Liquor, and later owned the Smoke-N-Pit Restaurant in Junction City.
Steve married Sandra "Sandi" Millett on Oct. 13, 1973 in Enterprise. She survives of the home. Other survivors include: a son, Jess Coffey and his wife Michelle, Lawrence; 2 daughters, Tammy Gleason, Lawrence, and Makenzie Maldonado and her husband Pablo, Junction City; 2 brothers, Donald Coffey, Stillwell, and Chandler Coffey, Paola; a cousin, Janelle Anderson, Kansas City, MO; and 4 grandchildren, Ian Gleason, Archie B. Poindexter, Elias Maldonado, and Genevieve Coffey. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Hannah Jean-Marie Gleason.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, Junction City. Burial will be at the Alida-Upland Coop Church Cemetery, northwest of Junction City. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley. The family will greet friends at the funeral home, 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
