William Lindsey, 84, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 09, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service with full military honors will take place on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the William Lindsey Memorial Fund.
He was born on August 10, 1938, Belton, South Carolina, to Will and Beatrice (Fair) Lindsey.
William served in the United States Army for 20 years. He retired in 1975 as a Staff Sergeant. William served honorably and received numerous awards during his military career.
Following military service, William became a taxi driver. He also opened a business selling merchandise and owned numerous businesses that helped to support the community throughout Junction City, Kansas.
Many knew him as Bill, Dollar Bill, Uncle Pete or Papa. He enjoyed cooking, reading westerns, fishing and spending time with his granddaughter. He loved to play dominoes and pinochle. He was a member of the VFW Post 8773.
William is survived by his daughter, Kim I. Defibaugh (Joseph) of Manhattan, KS; his Granddaughter, Janessa Lee of Manhattan, KS; his daughter, Christine Nicole (Tina) of Junction City, KS; his son, Tony and wife Thaneshia Lindsey of Leavenworth, KS; his niece, Pamela Edwards of Moncks Corner, SC; great nephew, Collis Fogle, wife Lisa and 3 kids Meghan, Brendan, Logan of Moyock, NC; great niece, Cherylon Fogle and son Michael of Moncks Corner, SC; great nephew, Emmett McNeal of Valdosta, GA; great nephew, Melton Davis and wife Lori of Orlando, FL; great nephew, Victor Stewart and wife Sarai, son Elijah of Miramar, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nannette L. Campbell, and son Talmadge Lindsey.
