Funeral services for SSG (Ret) Rudolph H. Goetsch, Sr., 79, of Junction City, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel with Rev. Joyce Allen officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Alida Evangelical Cemetery. Mr. Goetsch passed away April 15, at Salina Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Friday, April 18, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. Rudolph was born April 18, 1928 in Davenport, Iowa to Rudolph and Charlotte (Hartman) Goetsch. His parents died when he was a teenager and he was raised then by his second cousins Arthur and Della Goetsch. Rudolph entered the US Army at 17 years old and retired 20 years later at Fort Hamilton, New York. He then worked at Fort Riley Civil Service retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Church of Our Saviour United Methodist Church. He was very active in his church for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 45 for over 40 years. He enjoyed flying in which he held a private pilot's license until his health stopped him from flying. In his spare time he enjoyed boating and fishing.
Rudolph married Shirley Coop on November 10, 1955 at the Fort Riley Main Chapel, she survives of the home. Rudolph is survived by one son; Rudy Goetsch, Jr. and wife Kathy, one daughter; Kim Goetsch-Clark and husband Jeff, four grandchildren; Courtney Goetsch, Jeffery, Chelsea, and Schyler Clark all of Junction City, Kansas.
