(SSG Ret.) Richard Lee Hall, 70, of Junction City, KS, passed away on July 14, 2020. A viewing will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2020, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street, Junction City, Kansas.
A graveside service will follow the viewing at 1:00pm at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Fort Riley, 5181 Wildcat Creek Road, Manhattan, KS with Pastor Teakshik Yang and the United States Army Chaplain concelebrating.
Due to the current events, COVID-19 precautions of social distancing and wearing of masks is required for both the viewing and graveside service.
Richard was born on January 27, 1950, in Cairo, Georgia to John and Frances (Griffin) Hall. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army and proudly served for over 20 years. He was stationed in many places domestic and abroad. During his time in service, he earned many awards and decorations that include but are not limited to: the Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (5 Campaigns), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (5), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge with Palm. He married Yong Sun Kang in Seoul, Korea on December 27, 1982. They later had a son, Richard Jr., from this union. Upon Richard's retirement he made Junction City, KS his home.
Richard was a hard worker. After his retirement from the Army, he went on to work as a custodial care manager for USD 475 for 20 years. He also worked at the Junction City foundry and the company Mobile Travelers. Though he worked diligently to provide for his family, he knew how to balance work life and leisure time. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. Above all he was a loving husband, dedicated father, adoring grandfather, and beloved friend.
Richard is survived by his loving family: wife, Yong Sun Hall of Junction City, KS; his son, Richard Lee Hall, Jr. of Junction City, KS; five grandchildren, Leiana Lee Hall, Isis Lee Hall, Victorianna Lee Colón-Hall, Richard Lee Hall, III, and Maximillion Lee Colón-Hall; two step-daughters, Allison Kingsley of Chicago, IL, and Summer Kingsley of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Earvin Hall and Alfred Hall; and a host of loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother, June Hall.
