Sonya J. Broughton, 48, of Junction City, departed this life on Monday, August 5th, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Apirl 13, 1965, to parents Melvin Kent and Delores Wilcox, in Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey.
Before her illness, Sonya served others by helping teach and care for children with special needs. She was a good woman and a faithful member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Junction City.
A visitation will be held to celebrate Sonya's life from 6-8 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel in Junction City. Following the visitation, Sonya will be returned to her home state of New Jersey, where her body will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends and loved ones to make a donation in Sonya's memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Mid-Kansas Affiliate at PO Box 780294 Wichita, KS 67278.
"What Cancer Cannot Do"
Cancer is so limited... It cannot cripple love. It cannot shatter hope. It cannot corrode faith. It cannot eat away peace. It cannot destroy confidence. It cannot kill friendship. It cannot shut out memories. It cannot quench the spirit. It cannot silence courage. It cannot reduce eternal life.
