SMSGT (RET) James "Jim" R. Miller, Jr. 64, of Junction City, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Greenwood County, Kansas. A graveside with full military honors will take place at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 3, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery. Pastor Will Ravenstein will officiate. A visitation will be held Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Johnson Funeral Home.
Jim was born on October 11, 1958, in Junction City, Kansas the son of James Raymond and Louise Rose (Shope) Miller, Sr.
Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1982. He served until his retirement in 2008. Throughout his career, he was a crew chief, C-130 flight engineer, flight training instructor, and a standards/evaluation instructor.
Jim enjoyed sightseeing and traveling. The highlight of his time was taking his grandson Kyan on adventures and travels. In his spare time, he enjoyed grilling, camping, stargazing, bird hunting, working on his Jeep, building and fixing things. Jim was very Patriotic and took great pride with his many motorcycle rides to honor and visit Veterans' memorials throughout the country.
Jim always emphasized the importance of visiting and spending time with family. He valued the importance of taking care of his children and grandchildren. He was a generous person with a big heart and was always there to help anyone that needed help.
Jim is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Beth Wilkerson; two sons, James Raymond Miller, III and Patrick William Miller all of Norman, Oklahoma; his mother, Louise Rose Miller of Junction City, Kansas; one grandson, Kyan Joseph Wilkerson and one granddaughter, Blair Elizabeth Wilkerson; one brother, Bobby Miller and his wife Rhonda of Mulvane, Kansas; two sisters, Darlene "Sue" Guy and her husband Mark of Ludowici, Georgia and Carolyn King and her husband Charles of Zephyrhills, Florida; one aunt, Bonnie Jean Myers and her husband William of Murray, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his father James Raymond Miller, Sr.
