Simon Holt, Jr

Funeral services for Simon Holt, Jr. 78 of Junction City, will be at 10 a.m. Friday June 12, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Redo Purnell. Visitation will be held tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Geary Community Healthcare and Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, KS 66441.

Mr. Holt died Sunday, June 7 peacefully at home with his family at his bedside. He was born October 16, 1930 in Kern, Texas. The son of Simon Holt Sr. and Mary Morgan. He served in the United States Army for 3 years. he worked at the Good Eates Cafe until it closed, in his early years and retired at Church's Chicken here in Junction City.

Simon married Ethel (Dee Dee) Bond on January 20, 1956 in Kansas City, MO. Survivors include his mother Mary Ingram Jackson of Corsicana, TX, four daughters, Linda D. Green of Junction City, KS, Darla J. Pippins of Columbus MS, Janet Y (David) Lee, and Deborah R. (Curtis) Wooten all of Junction City, KS. Two sons, Stanton S. Holt of Lansing, KS, Joel J. Holt of Lawton, Ok, nine grandchildren, Theron, Eli, Yvette, Simon, Ashley, Marcia, Sherman, Jaleesa and Justin. Nineteen Great-Grandchildren. Two sisters, Katie Lee Hall of Dallas, TX. Fannie M. Rudd of Los Angeles, CA, five brothers, Samuel Holt of Houston, TX, Curly Holt of Corsicana, TX, Ossie Jackson of Saganaw, MI, Robert & Joe Jackson both of Long Beach, CA.

He will be missed by his family, friends and many co-workers.

He preceded in death by his father, wife Ethel (Dee Dee), and son Simon Holt, Jr. One Great Grandson, Theron J. Graves Jr. and Sister Marie Jackson. Three brothers Hosie Jackson, Felix Bledsoe, and JC Jackson.
