Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley E. Winkleman, of Junction City are being held at Johnson's Funeral Chapel, Junction City, KS. Viewing will be on Sunday March 30, 2003 from 1:00 p.m-3:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow immediately for family and friends. The Rev. Dr. Joe Belardo will officiate. Mrs. Winkleman died Thursday, March 26, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS. She was born May 8, 1933 in Strong, Ar., Daughter of Jewell Edward Taylor and Essie Faye Farrar. On Sept. 19, 1951 she married Gordon E. Winkleman in Yokahama, Japan. Mrs. Winkleman worked as a parent teacher coordinator for Geary County USD 475 (Head Start) for over 20 years. Survivors include the husband Gordon E. Winkleman of the home. Three Sons; Gordon, Roy (Doug) and William Jay Winkleman. Three Daughters; Shirley A. Balderson, Terry L. Wright and Brenda Faye. Brothers; Henry (Bud) Taylor, Jewell D. Taylor, Richard Thompson, Sisters; Elizabeth Vice, Geraldine Burroughs, Barbara Little, Holly Thompson and Katherine Maxie. Two Son-In-Laws, William Balderson, Presley Maples and three daughter-in laws, Glenda, Angie and Vera Windleman. Adopted family Kenneth and Beth Nichols, Tim and Mary Young. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother; Robert Thompson and two sisters; Barbara Bielss and Betty Taylor. Burial will be Monday, March 31, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Riley Cemetery, Fort Riley, KS.
