Shirley J. (Bartlett) Brough
Shirley J. Bartlett Brough, 65, of Junction City, died July 1, 2014 at her home. Shirley was born June 1, 1949 in Bellaire, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Helen (Herber) Bartlett. Shirley graduated from North Hardin High School, Vine Grove, Kentucky.
Shirley moved to Junction City in 1978 and had worked as a playground supervisor at Franklin Elementary School, and later as a CNA at Valley View, and as a sales clerk at both Dillon's Floral Shop and at the gas station. She had also worked at the Cozy Inn.
Shirley enjoyed working with the Friends of Animals, doing scrapbooks, quilting, and traveling.
Shirley married Charlie Toothman on June 3, 1967 in Radcliff, Kentucky. They were later divorced, but remained friends and he survives. Shirley later married Gary Brough on June 1, 1990 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He survives. Other survivors include: 2 daughters, Katrina Davis and her husband Kyle, Spanaway, Washington, and Penny Fink and her husband Al, Omaha, Nebr.; a step-son, Nickolas Brough, Topeka; a step-daughter, Rebecca Brough, Junction City; 3 sisters, Carmen Combs and Ruby Greer, both of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Rena Bartlett, Rineyville, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, Kevin Montgomery and his wife Yurika, Raven Davis, Dana Montgomery, Austin Davis, and Dylan Taylor; and her favorite black poodle, "Muffin". She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant brother.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial inurnment will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Manhattan. The family invites attendees to wear informal attire for the service.
