Shirley B. Glessner

Shirley Bonita (Shane) Glessner, 67, of Junction City, passed away Sat., Feb. 28, 2004 at Geary Community Hospital. Visitation will be Tues., Mar. 2, 2004, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Funeral service will be Wed., Mar. 3, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor G. Edmond Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church, 624 N. Jefferson, Junction City, KS 66441.

Shirley was born July 17, 1936, in rural Alta Vista, daughter of Gilbert Henry Carl and Hilma Leona (Wolgast) Shane. She married Arnold "Tossie" Ross Glessner January 3, 1954 in Junction City. Shirley was the Assistant Manager of Tyme Out Lounge for 11 years. She had also worked at JC Penneys for 23 years, Woolworths Distribution Center for five years, and was a distributor of Avon, Rawleigh, Watkins, and Amway for many years. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church, Geary County Historical Society, and was a Shane Family Historian.

Survivors include her husband, Arnold R. Glessner of Junction City; one son, Tyrone S. Glessner and wife Sharon of Junction City; one daughter, Cathie A. (Glessner) Fultz and husband James of Junction City; three grandchildren, Jasmine D. Glessner, Shane R. Glessner, and Keely A. Fultz all of Junction City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Sidney R. Glessner.

Pallbearers will be James Fultz, Wayne Dishman, Paul Erichsen, Wayne Pearson, Keith Britt, and Barton Beck.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tyrone S. Glessner, Shane R. Glessner, Jasmine D. Glessner, Keely A. Fultz, and Joey Boller.

Organist will be Florence Whitebread, and vocalist will be Don Whitebread.
